American Dental Partners Fnd ScholarshipThis award is given to a 3rd or 4th year dental student, as determined by the School, who demonstrates - professional capability, leadership, teamwork and clinical excellence. The need for funding may also be considered. It is renewable at the discretion of the School.
American Dental Partners Fnd.This $500 award recognizes a 3rd or 4th year student in the School of Dentistry. The recipient will display attributes of a professional capable of entering a dental group practice. It may be renewed based on the student's academic progress and availability of funds.
Anderson, Dr. Charles & Merlyn ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 1991 from a bequest made by Merlyn Anderson. Charles A. Anderson was a CU alum (DDS 1918). This is a non-renewable $1,500 scholarship. It is awarded to a first-year dental student with above-average admission credentials and significant financial need.
Araki Memorial ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship has several priority points in who shall be eligible for consideration: 1) D2 non-traditional student from HI, if none then 2) Any Dental student from HI, if none then 3) Any non-traditional Dental student, if none then 4) Any D1, D3 or D4 student.
Ayers, Frank, DDS ScholarshipNamed in honor of a long time Dental School faculty member and administrator, this scholarship is based on academic achievment and financial need.
Bacino, Dr. Paul & Jan ScholarshipThrough an annual gift by the donors, this scholarship supports first year Dental students who show financial need and high academics. Preference is given to students from the Iowa counties of Marshall, Tama, Poweshiek, Jasper, Polk, Story or Hamilton. The Dental School Scholarshiip Comiittee shall select the recipient and it may be renewed for additional years upon their recommendation.
Baumrucker Family ScholThis award is given to an entering first year Dental student who has high academic credentials and the need for funds to continue their education. Preference is given to students with these characteristic who are from Florida, Louisiana and/or the greater Chicago metro area.
Belzer, Dr. Jerome J. Endowed ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 2001 by Mrs. Ruth Belzer in memory of her son, Jerome. Mrs. Belzer's husband Oscar was a CU alumnus (DDS '28). A $1000 scholarship is awarded to a Dental student with financial need who assists the Oscar S. Belzer Endowed Chair holder in research, teaching, community service or other academically related duties.
Bettinger, Dr. James D. ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 1994 by Carol Koontz in memory of her late brother, Dr. James D. "Del" Bettinger. Dr. Bettinger was a 1968 graduate of the CU Dental School. A $1,200 scholarship is awarded to a senior dental student who demonstrates exceptional concern for patients.
Bohacek, Dr & Mrs J Robert SchThis scholarship, named in 2009 for the donors, recognizes a dental student with high academic credentials and financial need. Renewal of this award is based on an annual review by the Dental School's faculty and/or administration.
Bongers, Dr. Leo V ScholarshipThis award goes to a 3rd year Dental student who ranks in the top 25% of the class, is a student leader and has high ethical standards in everyday conduct. The School of Dentistry makes the selection each year.
Boyne, Harry Trust ScholarshipThis Dental School endowed scholarship is absed on academic merit and achievement as determined by the School.
Brust, William Endowed ScholarshipThis endowed award was established from the estate of Dr. William P. Brust (DDS '45) and is intended to assist students in the School of Dentistry who are of high academic ability and the need for financial assistance.
Butkus, Dr. John J. Endowed ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 1998 by Helen Jostes Butkus in memory of her husband Dr. John J. Butkus. A $1000 scholarship is awarded to a senior Dental student demonstrating excellence in fixed prosthodontics with special consideration given to Native Americans possessing this skill.
Campbell, Dr. John & Kathryn ScholarshipNeedy first year Dental students with the first preference to students who received their undergraduate degree from Creighton University and have a documented history of service to others. Award may be renewed based upon available funds.
Carlisle, Dr. William L & Delores G Endowed ScholThis scholarship was created to honor Dr. William and Delores Carlisle. Needy first year Dental students with high academic standing who completed their undergraduate degree at Creighton University and who graduated from Creighton Prepartory or Marian High Schools in Omaha, Nebraska are given first preference for this scholarship. Second preference is for students who completed their undergraduate degree at Creighton University and are from Omaha, Nebraska. If there are no eligible students that meet either the first or second preference, then preference shall be given to students who completed their undergraduate degree at Creighton University.
Cavel, Dr. W. Thomas ScholarshipThis scholarship is in memory Dental School alumni, Dr. W. Thomas Cavel, DDS'70. Needy dental students with good academic standing are considered for this scholarship. Preference will be given to first year students. The scholarship may be renewed based upon available funds and the student maintaining academic progress.
Cavel, W. Thomas DDS '70 Endowed Scholarship FundThis scholarship was created by a generous donor to recognize and honor Dr. Cavel and his legacy at the School of Dentistry. Second year students with financial need and high academic standing who embody the Jesuit charism - men and women for others. The recipient should also model proficient clinical skills.
Coats, William C. DDS Endowed ScholarshipEstablished by Mrs. Faye Richey Coats in honor of her husband, this scholarship is given to an entering Dental School student who graduated from a Nebraska High School. Additionally, the recipient will demonstrate high academics, initiative, integrity and financial need. Representatives from the Dental School will annually select the recipient and/or approve renewal of the award.
Cordoba Family Endowed ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 1995 by Dr. David and Mrs. Rose Cordoba. $1000 scholarship is awarded to a senior dental student based upon service to his/her dental class, the School of Dentistry, and/or the University.
Cuccia, Victor & Diane ScholarThis is a need based endowed scholarship as selected by the Dental School Scholarship Commiittee.
Cutuli, Dr. S. Leonard & Diana Dental ScholarshipThis endowed gift provides financial support to a Dental student with high academics and the need for funding to continue their education. It may be renewed for additional years by maintaining at least a 3.0 grade average and the recommendation of School administrators.
DeRose, Edward & Neta ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship provides financial support and recognition to a Dental student as selected by the School's Scholarship Committee.
Delta Dental Endowed ScholarshipThis award recognizes the academic achievements of a 3rd year Dental student as selected by the Dental School Scholarship Committee.
Dental Alumni Scholarship FundThis is a $1,200 scholarship awarded to an incoming freshman dental student with above-average admission credentials. This scholarship is renewable each year as long as the student maintains a ranking in the top one-third of the class.
Dold Family Dental ScholarshipA Dental student from Kansas will be awarded this scholarship based on academic credentials and financial need. Preference is given to students from Wichita, KS.
Dr. Paul and Jan Bacino Endowed ScholarshipThis scholarship will be awarded to Dental Students with high academic standing, and demonstrates financial need. Scholarship can be renewed, abased on academic progress and availability of funds. The School of Dental scholarship committee shall annually select the recipient and the amount awarded. First preference shall be extended to students from high schools located in Marshall County Iowa, or any Catholic high school located in Omaha, NE, or Washington, Dodge, Saunders, Lancaster, Cass or Sarpy Counties in Nebraska.
Egerman Dental ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship is awarded by the School of Dentistry to students with financial need and have a high record of academic achievement. It is possibly renewable based on the student's continued academic record.
Ethel S. Abbott Charitable FoundationTwo $500 scholarships for the School of Dentistry were established in the fall of 1980 and are funded by annual gifts from the Ethel E. Abbott Charitable Foundation. The donor requests that the scholarships not only be based on scholastic achievement but also on general needs and overall ability to become a good citizen of the community. The scholarships are offered to two freshmen each year and are not renewable.
Franco, Steven, DDS Endowed ScholarshipThis award, created in memory of a long time Dental School faculty member, will be given to a senior dental student who exhibits excellent clinical skills, a compassionate chair-side manner and a true caring for patients. Preference will be granted to those students demonstrating these traits who have high academics and financial need.
Freimuth, Dr. & Mrs. Frank ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 1987 by Joseph Freimuth in honor of his parents, the late Dr. Frank Freimuth (DDS '36) and his wife Freda. A $1,500 renewable scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman student who can demonstrate financial need. A preference is extended to such students who are from rural communities in the states of Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Goldsby, Shawn & Trisha ScholThis annual gift scholarship is given in gratitude to the scholarship support received by Trisha as a Dental student. The School of Dentistry's Scholarship Committee will annually select a recipient who enters the School with a 3.5 GPA and maintains it along with demonstrating financial need. The award may be renewed at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
Hamlin, Dr. John, DDS '62 & Family Endowed ScholarDental students who are of high academic standing and demonstrate financial need shall be considered for this scholarship. Preference shall be extended to students who are two calendar years or greater removed from receiving their undergraduate degree. Awards may be renewed based upon academic progress and available funds.
Herbst, A. P. ScholarshipThis endowment provides scholarship support to students in the School of Dentistry who present and demonstrate high academic credentials and financial need. Recipient(s) are determined by the School's Committee on Scholarships.
Hirschman, Max DDS Memorial ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established from a bequest made by Max Hirschman, D.D.S. This is a $1,500 renewable scholarship to students in any year of Dental school who have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and financial need. Preference shall be given to students who are orphans, have lived in a foster home, come from a single parent household, or come from a middle income family.
Holbrook, Christine & Dr. Frank ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 2003 by Rev. John Holbrook, S.J. in memory of his parents, Christine and Frank Holbrook. Fr. Holbrook was a member of the CU Jesuit Community and served as chaplain to the School of Dentistry for many years until his death in 2004. A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior Dental student on the basis of financial need.
Huerter, Dr. James & Therese Endowed ScholarshipThis scholarship was created to honor Dr. Jim Huerter, DDS '52, and his late wife, Therese, for their commitment to educating their children in the Catholic faith. Needy dental students with high academic standing and who have demonstrated a commitment to community service shall be considered for this scholarship. Preference shall be extended to students who received their undergraduate education from Creighton University. This scholarship may be renewed based upon academic progress and available funds.
Huerter, James & Therese ScholarshipHonoring Dr. Jim Huerter and Therese Huerter, this annual gift from the Huerter family provides scholarship support to students enrolled in the School of Dentistry. The School shall annually select the recipient who will demonstrate high academic standing (minimum 2.5 grade average), a committment to community service and financial need. A preference is given to students with an undergraduate degree from Creighton.
Jelinek, Dr. Stephen Herman ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established by Herman J. Jelinek (BSBA '35) in memory of his father, Dr. Steven Herman Jelinek (DDS '09). A $1000 scholarship is awarded to a senior Dental student based upon clinical and laboratory excellence.
Johnson, Robert Wood Scholarship FundThis endowed scholarship was established in 1987 by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Various scholarships in amounts up to $2,000 are available for Dental students who exhibit academic excellence and are members of one or more of the following groups: female students, students from rural backgrounds, and students from minority populations under-represented in the health professions (Afro-Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics and mainland Puerto Rican populations).
Kappenman, Dr. James & Rosemary Endowment FundThis scholarship is for fourth year Dental students based upon superior performance in either restorative dentistry or periodontics.
Lannon, Rev. Timothy S.J. School of Dentistry EndDental students with high academic standing and demonstration financial need will be considered for this scholarship. Awards may be renewed based upon available funds and academic progress.
Low, Dr. Eugene & Mary Susan Endowed ScholarshipDr. Low is a Dental School graduate, class of '67 and for many years his wife worked at the School. This endowed scholarship assists financially needy and academically deserving student in the School of Dentistry with a preference to students who are Native American or Asian descent and citizens of the USA.
Ludes, Dr. George M. ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 1990 from a bequest from the estate of George M. Ludes, D.D.S. Dr. Ludes was a CU alumni (DDS 1934). A $4,000 scholarship IS awarded each year to a sophomore student who exhibits academic excellence and financial need. The scholarship is awarded to one sophomore each year and is not renewable.
Ludwig, Dr. Thomas L. ScholarshipDental students in their 3rd clinical year shall be considered for this scholarship. First preference shall be extended to students from Iowa, who rank in the top 50% of their class and are involved in organized dentistry such as the American Student Dental Association.
Lynch, Benjamin ScholarshipThis endowment provides a scholarship to a senior dental student interested in oral surgery with high academic achievement.
McKee, William W. DDS Endowed ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 2006 by Dr. and Mrs. Smith to honor Dr. William W. McKee. This is a $1,000 to $2,000 renewable scholarship awarded Dental students who were former members of the United States Armed Forces, especially former members of the Marine Corps.
Meehan, Maurita & Patrick ScholarshipThis scholarship is given to an entering Dental student with exceptional academic credentials and may be renewed for additional years based on the recommnedation of the Dental School Scholarship Committee. A preference is given to students from Wyoming.
Meyer, L. Charles DDS Endowed ScholarshipThird year Dental students with high academic standing, financial need and someone who embodies Dr. Meyer's passion for service to the community and compassion for others will be considered for this scholarship fund.
Meyer, L. Charles ScholarshipThis award is available to a 3rd year Dental Student who has financial need and a passion for service to others the community at large. The recipient is selected each year funds are available by the Dental School Scholarship Committee.
Moran, Sean C. DDS ScholarshipThis scholarship is awarded by the School of Dentistry Scholarship committee. It will go to an individual who is a first year student and has high academic standing, financial need, and preference given to students with an undergraduate degree from Creighton University. This scholarship is renewable each year based on academic progress and fund availability.
Moran, Sean DDS ScholarshipThis annual gift provides a scholarship to a first year Dental student with high academic credentials and financial need. It is renewable based on academic progress and the availability of funds. Preference is given to a student from the California counties of - Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, Sonoma, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and/or Solano. The second preference goes to a student with an undergraduate degree from Creighton. The Dental School Scholarship Committee will decide the initial recipient and renewal.

The office of Adm/St Affairs will annually select a recipient who demonstrates; good academic standing, outstanding effort in service-based activities and financial need.
Norton, Neil, DDS ScholarshipFunded from several donors in appreciation of Dr. Norton's scholarship and inspiration, this award is given to a 2nd year Dental student who has made an outstanding effort in the completion of anatomical science courses. The Dental School shall annually select the recipient from qualified applicants. The award is not renewable. Recipients will demonstrate high academic achievement and the need for funding their Dental studies.
Perion, Dr. Leo S. Trust ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 1986 from a bequest made by the estate of Dr. Leo S. Perion (DDS '24). Scholarships in amounts up to $2,000 are available for first year Dental students who possess excellent academic records in undergraduate school. These scholarships are renewable as long as the recipient maintains a "B" average.
Raker, Dr. Kenneth P. & Mae ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 1994 by the late Kenneth P. Raker, (D.D.S. 1932). Scholarships in amounts of $3,000 are awarded to third and fourth year dental students who exhibit academic excellence and financial need.
Reinsch, Dr. David Endowed ScholarshipThis scholarship was created in memory of Dr. David Reinsch, DDS'81 by his Dental School classmates. The scholarship is awarded to needy dental students who are children of alumni of the Dental School. Scholarship recipients must embody the spirit of humanitarianism, through demonstrated community service, advocacy and leadership.
Rucker, Dr. Raymond J. ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established by Mrs. Rucker and her late husband, Dr. Raymond Rucker (DDS '53). Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 are awarded to minority and female students in any year of Dental school based on academic excellence.
Schaefer, Dr. Frederick W. ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Willis Strauss in memory of the late Dr. Frederick Schaefer, a former CU faculty member in the School of Dentistry. A $1,500 scholarship is awarded each year to a second, third and fourth year Dental student who exhibit academic excellence and financial need. Criteria for academic excellence are based upon the previous year's performance and the scholarship is not necessarily renewable.
Schaefer, John M. & Smith,Earl H. Jr. ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship was established in 2002 from funds originally donated for the Schaefer-Smith Memorial Loan Fund by Mr. and Mrs. McVay. The gift was made in memory of John M. Schaefer, a former Dental student. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 are awarded to junior Dental students based on academic excellence in the previous academic year and on financial need.
Sims, Dr. Foster R. Scholarship FundThis endowed scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Foster Sims. Dr. Sims graduated from Creighton School of Dentistry in 1939 and died in 2003. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 are awarded to sophomore students solely on the basis of their academic performance during their first year of Dental school.
Smith Lanatta Dental ScholarshipThis award is granted to a dental student in need of support to continue their education.
Starkey, M. & B. Dental ScholAt the School of Dental Dean's discretion, available funds may be directed to student scholarships.
Stella, Dr. Sebastian F. & Philomene Memorial SchlThis endowed scholarship was established by Mrs. Philomene Stella in memory of her husband, Dr. S. Frank Stella (DDS '55). The scholarship is awarded to a senior Dental student who has demonstrated the highest clinical excellence in prosthodontics.
Stromberg, Dr. Donald & Rosalie Endowed ScholarThe children and grandchildren of Dr. Donald and Roslie Stormberg created this scholarship to honor their parents and grandparents. Dental students who have high academic standing and demonstrated financial need shall be considered for this scholarship. Preference shall be given to students with an express interest in Pediatric Dentistry. Awards may be renewed based upon academic progress and available funds.
US Bancorp Community Development ScholarshipUS Bancorp created this scholarship to fund scholarships to help increase diversity within the Dental School. First preference is for female students, second preference is under-presented minority populations and third preference is to students from a rural background or any combination thereof. Awards are not renewable.
Welsh, Daniel Dental Endowed ScholarshipThis endowed scholarship provides support for School of Dentistry students who show high academic ability and financial need. The endowment was established by Dr. & Mrs. Stephen Welsh in honor of Dr. Daniel Welsh, DDS '51. The School of Dentistry selects new and renewal recipient(s) as funds permit.
Westerman, Gary H. & Judy W. Endowed ScholarshipDental students with high academic standing and demonstrate financial need, with a first preference to students who graduated from Gonzaga University. Award may be renewed based upon available funds and continued academic progress.
